Blunos restaurant in Bath closes

Celebrity chef Martin Blunos's Bath restaurant, Blunos, has closed after less than a year.

Blunos opened the venture at the County hotel on Pulteney Road in the city in February 2014.

The move was seen as a homecoming for the chef, who became a fixture on the Bath culinary scene in the 1990s when his restaurant Lettonie earned two Michelin stars until he closed it in 2001.

However the project appears to have come to an abrupt end after the site was believed to have been taken back by the hotel.

Blunos told the Bath Chronicle: "I'm saddened to see that what was potentially a great business is no longer operating.

"We were packed and receiving brilliant reviews and had an efficient team delivering a good product which was proving to be hugely popular with the people of Bath. However, I wish the owner every success with whatever direction he chooses to go with the premises."
