Adam Banks returns to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall as head chef

Adam Banks has returned to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall to take up the position of head chef, following six years working as a chef in Australia and at Falmouth's Star and Garter.

All the profits from Fifteen Cornwall go to its registered charity, the Cornwall Food Foundation, and both help train disadvantaged young people as chef apprentices.

Banks left his senior sous chef role of five years at the Fifteen Cornwall kitchen in 2011 to move to Australia and head up a Melbourne restaurant. Returning to Cornwall in 2015, he joined the team at the Star and Garter.

Banks steps into the role at Fifteen following Andy Appleton's departure last year after more than 10 years at the restaurant.

Banks said: "I am so excited about returning to the Fifteen kitchen - it's like a homecoming. I love cooking Italian food and for a chef it's a dream to be part of a restaurant that is so focused on sourcing the highest quality ingredients. I'm looking forward to working closely with Cornwall's best producers and evolving the famous Fifteen Cornwall menu."

Operations director Polly Dent added: "We have been looking for the right person to join us. At Fifteen's core is its apprentice programme and finding someone who understands us is essential. Adam is such a creative chef and so passionate about food and it's fantastic to have him come back to us to head up the kitchen team."
