Punch Pubs & Co teams up with Eden Project to further its green ambitions

Punch Pubs & Co has partnered with the Eden Project in a bid to reduce its carbon footprint and support the natural environment.

As part of the collaboration, the pub chain is supporting several Eden-led initiatives such as training, tools and materials being given to Punch pubs to encourage them to become ‘Pollinator Pubs' with the aim of increasing local biodiversity across its pub gardens and enhance the look and feel of green spaces for pub-goers and local communities.

Punch will also participate in Eden's campaign the Big Lunch. The campaign has been running since 2009 and aims to bring communities together to increase social well-being.

Punch, which operates around 1,300 pubs across the UK, is also focused on mitigating their residual emissions to help them on its journey to net zero.

Clive Chesser, Punch Pubs & Co chief executive, said: "We are delighted to have teamed up with the Eden Project, who can truly help us when it comes to the social well-being of our communities, local impact, and environmental footprint alongside our wider sustainability credentials.

"We are committed to Doing Well by Doing Good, and this new partnership is doing just that, using the power of the local and pub gardens to bring people together and boost biodiversity."

Peter Stewart LVO, chief purpose officer at the Eden Project, added: "Our partnership with Punch Pubs & Co, is about exploring how we can collaborate to transform our understanding of the world. As a former publican I know that pubs have long been a place where people have come together in our communities."
