Tiger Tiger sees sales roar in City

Tiger Tiger bar operator Urbium said in a pre-close statement that its like-for-like sales were up by 5% for the six months to 27 June 2004.

The positive performance was attributed to the affluent central London market, where the group opened three new units - the Abacus at Cornhill in March, the Agenda in May, and Context in June.

The company launched its first small format Tiger Tiger last month in Aberdeen, but said trading outside of London remained tough, with low consumer confidence depressing sales.

The company's interim results will be released in September.
