June sales drop for Chicago Rock Café owner

A sharp drop off in sales during June followed a steady three months to the end of May at Luminar, the operator of nightclubs and late-night bars including Chicago Rock Café.

In a statement to Luminar's annual general meeting today, chairman Keith Hamill said: "The company broadly performed in line with its plans for the first three months to the end of May 2004, with some softness in sales performance offset by improvements in margin."

But it saw a sharp drop-off in sales during early June, although this improved towards the end of the month. Like-for-like sales to the end of June are down by 4%, the company said.

But it expects an improvement during July and August.
