Corinna wins crown in Bloody Mary trial

Corinna Julnes, from favourite Clerkenwell bar-restaurant the Medcalf, shows the rest how it's done at the annual Open Air Bloody Mary Competition, staged last week at the Three Things caf‚ on Clerkenwell Green in London.

The challenge, now in its sixth year, is open to all bars, pubs and restaurants in the area and is designed to find out whose claim to making the best Bloody Mary is actually true. The Medcalf's effort was described as "the best balanced - the yin and yang of Bloody Marys" by the head judge, crime writer Jake Arnott, who was present with author Magnus Mills to read at the Clerkenwell Literary Festival. And what was Julnes's magic ingredient? Dry sherry, of course!
