Bell Inn sounds a winning note

Nottingham's Bell Inn won the conservation category in the Campaign for Real Ale's (Camra) 21st National Pub Design Awards last week.

The pub's owner, brewer Hardys & Hansons, impressed the judges with sympathetic treatment of the property's 18th-century frontage, and the fact that it had resisted the temptation to needlessly "impose modernity" inside.
