Myles Donaldson named head chef of Garden Museum Café

Myles Donaldson has been appointed as head chef of the Garden Museum Café in London's Lambeth.

It comes after his predecessor George Ryle announced his departure from the 54-cover café and restaurant this August to open his own restaurant.

Donaldson has over ten years' experience in the industry, having taken on roles at Anchor & Hope gastropub in London's Southwark, Frank's Café & Campari Bar in Peckham, St John Bread & Wine in Spitalfields and Noble Rot in Soho.

His menu offering features modern European dishes such as beetroot soup with horseradish; venison hunch, turnip and port sauce; and chestnut semifreddo, mascarpone and chestnut shortbread, which will also change daily.

Commenting on his appointment, Donaldson said: "I've long been an admirer of Garden Museum Cafe, it really is one of London's finest hidden gems, and respect to what George achieved here during his tenure. It's been a pleasure to join the team and pursue our shared interest in providing down-to-earth dishes that celebrate the very best seasonal produce we can source. I've received a warm welcome from Christopher, our GM Albert, and the whole team and now look forward to pushing forward together."

Christopher Woodward, director of the Garden Museum, added: "We're delighted to welcome Myles to the Garden Museum team. His approach aligns with the existing ethos of the restaurant, with a focus on fresh, seasonal produce and simple, but memorable dishes. His considerable experience and talent promises to deliver some creative and delicious menus in the coming months."

The Garden Museum Café opened in 2017 following a redevelopment project at the museum.
