Z Hotels acquires Glasgow site

Budget hotel chain Z Hotels has acquired a new site in Glasgow - its first in Scotland.

The company has taken the building that houses the former Old Printworks pub near Glasgow's George Square for an undisclosed sum, although the property was on the market for offers over £700,000.

Z Hotels, which was founded 18 months ago by two former Thistle employees already has sites in London's Soho and Victoria, as well as in Liverpool.

The Old Printworks pub closed in 2009 and had been part of Dark Star Scotland until it was sold to a company called Trustees of the Firm of the Hampton Court Hotel, which also owns the Sandyford hotel in Glasgow, according to the Scottish Herald.
