Wrens's Hotel Group sells boutique hotel in Eton

Wren's Hotel Group has sold the Christopher hotel in Eton to Janet Tregurtha and Jeremy Buckler.

The boutique hotel in Eton High Street is close to the River Thames, the centre of Windsor, and the M4, with ready access to Heathrow airport and central London. Local attractions include Windsor Castle, Legoland and Eton School.

The Grade II-listed property started life as a 17th century coaching inn but the main building was constructed in the 1870s.

The property offers 33 en-suite bedrooms that are spread across the main building and the courtyard.

Other facilities include a 30-seat bar, a 28-seat breakfast room and restaurant, and parking space for 19 cars.

The new owners have embarked on a refurbishment programme that will include the relaunch of the restaurant.

The Reading office of Colliers Robert Barry and the London office of Knight Frank were joint agents in the sale of the remaining 36 years of the 40-year leasehold on the property. They were seeking a premium of £850,000 on the property, which attracts an annual rent of £140,000.

The sale leaves the Wren's Hotel Group with just two UK properties around Windsor. It sold Taplow House hotel in Buckinghamshire for more than £6.5m last November.
