Von Essen closes in on Devon hotel purchase

Von Essen Hotels is understood to be close to buying the 12-bedroom Buckland-Tout-Saints hotel in Kingsbridge, Devon.

The AAthree-star and two-rosette hotel in the South Hams area of Devon is one of the AA's top 200 hotels in the UK and is the latest target on Von Essen's acquisition list. The Grade II-listed manor house was built in the 17th century and is popular for weddings. The hotel also features three dining areas with space for between 20 and 150 people.

Von Essen is also understood to have cast its eye over another well-known Devonshire hotel, Gidleigh Park in Chagford, but does not currently have the hotel on its "to buy" list.
