Travelodge searches for 10 new Scotland sites
Travelodge has announced that it is seeking 10 new sites in Scotland with £75m set aside for its expansion.
The budget chain currently has 40 hotels in the country, 11 of which are in Edinburgh, but said there was room for growth.
Chief executive Peter Growers said: "There is a big opportunity to further expand in Scotland. At present, the value hotel market in Scotland stands at 14%, compared with 18% in England and more than 30% in the US. By 2030, the budget hotel sector could account for almost a quarter of the UK market, with a similar level of growth expected in Scotland."
Travelodge has spent £4m in the past year modernising half of its Scottish hotels as part of a UK wide £57m refurbishment programme.
