Travelodge plan 11 Essex hotels after Romford opening

Travelodge is opening a 65-bedroom hotel in Romford, Essex, the second run by the budget operator in the town.

The site, located above the Quadrant shopping centre, is an £8m investment and will be the operator's 548th hotel.

Travelodge currently operates 14 hotels in Essex, with 11 more planned in site including Brentwood, Chelmsford, Epping and Southend-on-Sea.

Bryn Taylor, Travelodge regional director for the South East, said: "As we look to the future, Essex is a key growth area for Travelodge. Following our £1.2m investment in upgrading the customer experience and raising quality levels across our Essex hotels we have seen a significant rise in sales; interestingly with more business customers staying in our hotels than ever before.

"The Essex economy is growing at pace with increasing visitor numbers to the area. However, there is still a shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price."

Caroline Kellagher, hotel manager at London Romford the Quadrant Travelodge, said: "We have been literally booked out with business customers during the week and leisure travellers at the weekend, since we opened for business. This is great news for the local economy too, as our research shows that annually Travelodge customers will spend over £2m with local businesses during their stay with us."

"Customers love our new upgraded contemporary room design and we have been inundated with customer requests on how they can get hold of our bespoke king size Travelodge Dreamer Bed for their home."
