Travelodge completes £57m refurbishment

UK hotel chain Travelodge has completed its £57m refurbishment.

The programme, which began in March last year, upgraded the company's 500 hotels with new king size beds. It has also renovated 80% of its hotels with a "modernised" look.

All of its 36,813 rooms now have the "Travelodger Dreamer Bed" produced by Sleepeezee. Two truckle beds have replaced the sofa beds found in its family rooms.

Travelodge chief operating officer, Jon Hendry Pickup, said: "Our £57m modernisation programme is having a really positive impact on our customers as we build a new Travelodge. We've always had great prices and now that's reinforced with an excellent experience."

The company worked with a chromotherapy expert, introducing a sleep inducing colour palette to its rooms. Travelodge also introduced complimentary toiletries and 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi.

Further refurbishments are planned in the new year.
