Staycity signs £17m deal to develop 170 apartment Birmingham site

Serviced apartment operator Staycity has signed a £17m deal to develop a 170 apartment property in Birmingham.

Due to open in May 2015 in the city's Jewellery Quarter, the site will include one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Chief executive Tom Walsh said : "We are delighted to announce this deal, which is an important part of our European expansion strategy. Birmingham is one of the most important business and leisure centres outside London. This property will give us a stronger foothold in the city as the demand for serviced apartments grows."

The firm already operates 82 apartments in Birmingham's Arcadian centre, near New Street station.

This month is will open 161 apartments across two sites in Greenwich, London.
