Starwood to open two hotels in China
Starwood is to expand its presence in China with the opening of two hotels in the South-east region of Macao. The Sheraton Macao hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2008, will be largest Sheraton globally with around 4,000 rooms, five restaurants, more than 140,000sq ft of meeting space, two health clubs, a spa and two outdoor swimming pools. The second hotel will be the 460-room St. Regis hotel & residences Macao which is expected to open in 2009. The hotel will include four restaurants, meeting space, a health club, a spa and a swimming pool. The Residences will feature more than 400 residential units, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units, a residence-only swimming pool, own health club and butler service. Macao is a special administrative region of China, located on the Southeast coast of China and the western bank of Pearl River Delta, 40 miles from Hong Kong.

Golden Tulip to add hotel in Belgium
Golden Tulip has announced the launch of a new hotel in Belgian city of Antwerp with the opening of the Golden Tulip Antwerp Centre in September this year. The 174-room hotel will be housed in a multi-use building including offices and private residences. It will include three food outlets including a restaurant, bar and lodge. The hotel will also offer business services including wireless internet access and will feature conference facilities including a ballroom and meeting rooms of various sizes. Separately, Golden Tulip has announced the signing of a management contract for the Golden Tulip hotel in Düsseldorf, Germany.

IHG to open new Indigo hotel in the USA
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to launch a new Indigo hotel in the USA with the opening of the Indigo Basking Ridge in New Jersey towards the end of the year. The 112-room hotel will include a number of restaurants as well as a fitness studio and outdoor pool. Business facilities will include Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel's public spaces as well as two meeting rooms comprising 2,000sq ft. The hotel will feature a retail-inspired renewal concept with changes made throughout the year. Changes will include renewable elements such as murals, area rugs, duvets and slip covers, with the hotel's public spaces being transformed seasonally through changing artwork, music, flora, murals and directional signage.

Raffles to open first hotel in the Middle East Raffles Hotels & Resorts is to open its first property in the Middle East this summer with the launch of Raffles Dubai. The 188-room hotel will be housed in an 18-storey pyramidal structure located on Sheikh Zayed, Dubai's business and shopping district and 15 minutes from the city's international airport. The hotel will include nine food and beverage outlets, a grand ballroom, seven meeting rooms as well as a spa and a gym. It will also feature a one-hectare "Sparkling Botanical Sky-garden" - a botanical display of various plants depicting the four Greek elements of fire, wind, earth and water.

Accor launches ad campaign in Germany In Germany hotel group Accor is to launch a TV and online advertising campaign for its Etap budget hotel chain. The campaign has been developed by Accor's marketing agency Kochan & Partner and is aimed at increasing brand awareness of the Etap hotel chain. The campaign uses the slogan "Hier schlafen die Schlauen" ("Here the sleep the clever ones").
