Soho House to launch the first Mollie's Motel & Diner in Oxfordshire

Soho House & Co is to launch a group of 1950s American-inspired budget motels across the UK, with the opening of its first site in Oxfordshire at the end of the month.

Mollie's Motel & Diner will open on the A420 at Buckland on 30 January with an initial room rate of £50. Further sites have been earmarked for city centre locations in Manchester and Bristol.

Nick Jones, founder and chief executive of Soho House and 2015 Hotelier of the Year, has created the Mollie's concept, using inspiration from American diners of the 1950s.

The 79 bedrooms, which will include interconnected family and bunk rooms, have been designed by the in-house Soho House Design team and will feature king-size beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and high-pressure rainforest showers. Rather than the choice of 10 full-size Cowshed products found in other Soho House properties, Mollie's will offer just one each of shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and moisturiser.

A general store will serve free tea and filter coffee to motel guests, as well as offer a space to work or relax and access to WiFi and charging points, and sell a range of everyday essentials, from snacks to beauty products.

Mollie's Diner will serve American classic dishes, starting with an all-day breakfast such as eggs, avocado on toast, bacon, sausage, smoked salmon baps, waffles and healthy grain bowls. At lunch and dinner, the menu will range from cheesy nachos, corn on the cob and a prawn cocktail to the Dirty Burger, rotisserie chicken and mac and cheese, as well as offer a range of vegetarian dishes including the Filthy Burger, featuring a beetroot bun.

A Mini Mollie's menu will be available for children, while dishes will be able to be collected via a drive-through and takeaway counter.

Drinks will range from juices, coffee milkshakes, sodas, wine, beer and spirits, to classic cocktails such as Mollie's Mule, Espresso Martini, Eastern Standard, and Bloody Mary.

Soho House & Co's eclectic portfolio of global businesses includes 23 private members' clubs and hotels, including the Ned and Soho Farmhouse, 13 restaurant brands, Soho Home collection of furniture and interior accessories and Soho Works workspace.

Soho House Hong Kong and Soho Warehouse in downtown Los Angeles will opening the spring, while launches in Paris and Milan have been confirmed for 2020.
