Skans sell Chewton Glen to a private buyer

Chewton Glen‘s owners have sold the iconic country house hotel after 40 years at the helm for an undisclosed sum, Caterer can reveal.

Following much interest in the Hampshire property, Martin and Brigitte Skan have accepted an offer from a private buyer.

Martin Skan said: "We are fortunate enough to have found someone who has the personal resources to assure the hotel's future and who will personally cherish Chewton Glen as much as we have done."

Managing director Andrew Stembridge will continue in the role he has held for the past three years. "This is an exciting development for the hotel, which will allow us to continue to build on Chewton Glen's reputation and invest in the future," he said.

Martin Skan will remain with the hotel as non-executive president, while Brigitte will continue to "keep an eye" on the property's interior design.
