Second Room 2 aparthotel will reflect golden age of cruise liners
Room 2 has confirmed details of its second design-led aparthotel in Southampton, which is set to join the original site in Hammersmith, London.
Located on Queens Terrace, the property will feature 71 studio rooms and will be completed by March 2018. Room 2 also intends to open a further aparthotel in Chiswick, London, next year.
Designed by Shoreditch-based architects and designers Project Orange, the interior is set to make use of the high ceilings in the property, with raised sleeping decks. The design will reflect the golden age of cruise liners - a nod towards Southampton being the home of cross-Atlantic travel.
The public area will offers a flexible space for working, meeting and relaxing, with a grab and go coffee bar during the day, which turns into a bar in the evening.
Room 2 was launched in 2016 by property development company Lamington Group, which already operated 70 serviced apartments in west London.
Robert Godwin, managing director of property Lamington Group, said: "We're really excited to bring to Southampton what we feel is the first truly stylish hotel space, taking the best of the emerging design hotel sector, and designing memorable guest experiences tailored to both long and short stays. We see a big need for high quality accommodation in the city, and we aim to deliver it."
