Second Crowne Plaza for BDL

Hotels franchising and licensing group BDL is to open its second Crowne Plaza-branded hotel in November.

The 210-bedroom Holiday Inn Docklands, in east London, which opened in May 2003, is to be relaunched as the Crowne Plaza Docklands in November.

BDL operates branded hotels under licence from InterContinental Hotels and Ramada International.

It currently has 16 hotels but until now only one was a Crowne Plaza, the Crowne Plaza Marlow, in Buckinghamshire.

The repositioning of the Docklands property will include a refurbishment of the hotel restaurant.

Openings in the pipeline for BDL include an Express by Holiday Inn in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, on 18 October, and a further Express by Holiday Inn in Newcastle city centre by the middle of next year.
