Roux scholarship hopefuls down to last six

The final contestants in this year's 2006 Roux Scholarship have been announced following regional finals in London and Birmingham.
The six chefs are Lisa Allen (Northcote Manor), Paul Kavanagh (Montague Arms), Armand Sablon (Orrery), Pravin Sharma (Courthouse Hotel Kempinski), Stephen Stevens (Plas Bodegroes) and Henry Vigar (the Greenhouse). Allen, pictured above with Michel Roux Jnr, is the first female chef to reach the grand final since 1994. She, like the five other finalists, had to cook a previously submitted recipe centred on duckling.
The final takes place at London's Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park hotel on 27 March.
