Redefine BDL Hotels boosts portfolio by 22 properties

Redefine BDL Hotels has been appointed to manage a portfolio of 22 hotels on behalf of LRG Acquisition Limited, making it Europe's largest manager of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) franchised properties.

The 22 hotels, comprising 19 Holiday Inn hotels and three Crowne Plaza hotels, have an annual turnover in excess of £200m. They will bring 2,300 staff and almost 6,000 rooms to the Redefine BDL Hotels managed portfolio, and cement its position as the UK's largest independent hotel management company.

In response, it will increase its central office team from about 95 to more than 135. To facilitate the growth, the London base will move to new, larger premises and the existing Glasgow office will be extended.

Managing director Stewart Campbell said: "These additions will increase the Redefine BDL portfolio to 70 hotels, including 23 Holiday Inns and six Crowne Plazas. As well as raising our total in-hotel staff numbers to more than 4,500, we will significantly increase our central office teams and expand our premises, all of which contribute to our plans to grow the business and build on our success to date."

The 22 new properties include five central London hotels - Holiday Inn Kensington Forum, Holiday Inn Edinburgh, Holiday Inn Cardiff City, Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport and Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC. The Redefine BDL Hotels portfolio now embraces 13 central London hotels and four hotels at Heathrow Airport.

The company will assume management of the hotels in January 2015.

Redefine BDL currently has an annual turnover under management in excess of £400m. Besides IHG, it works with Hilton Worldwide, Best Western, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
