Ramsons tops list of Booker winners
Five independent caterers won awards at this year's Booker Prize for Excellence, in a ceremony held last week at Arbury Hall near Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
The five were rewarded by the UK wholesaler for their exceptional business management skills, innovative approaches and dedication to customer service.
The 20-year-old Ramsons Restaurant in Bury, Greater Manchester, run by Chris and Ros Johnson, took the overall award for Best Caterer, in addition to winning the Best Restaurant category.
The other category winners were: Best Pub Caterer, Hampshire Arms, Crondall; Best Small Hotel, Clow Beck House, Darlington; Best Specialist Caterer, Mersey Catering Sandwiches, Stockport; Best On-The-Go Caterer, Coach House Coffee Shop, Loch Lomond, Scotland.
Each winner picked up £500-worth of Booker vouchers.
In addition to the independent caterer awards, John Paul Badley of the Mytton & Mermaid hotel, Shrewsbury, scooped the award for Best Young Chef. He receives £500 plus dinner at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants.
