School meals appointment
Judy Hargadon has been appointed the first chief executive of the School Food Trust. She moves from her post of director at the NHS Modernisation Agency. Hargadon takes charge on 18 April. The 16-strong independent trust was set up at the end of last year to improve the standard of meals.
Hilton hotels for sale at £550m
Property tycoon Vincent Tchenguiz is to put a portfolio of 10 Hilton hotels on the market for a rumoured £550m. Tchenguiz bought the properties several years ago and has managed them through his company Consensus for the last three years. It's believed the portfolio will be sold through sale-and-leaseback deals on long leases.
Energy boost for Jane
Jane Hammill, chef-proprietor of the Highland Laddie Inn in Glasson, Wigton, Cumbria, is the winner of Caterer and Hotelkeeper and Aga Foodservice's energy competition. She receives a new energy-saving Falcon Infinity Fryer worth £5,000.
Pengelley's site on the market
The former site of Pengelley's restaurant in the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel on London's Sloane Street is up for sale again. Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH) pulled the plug on the floundering business in December after 10 months in operation. GRH did not run the restaurant directly but owns the leasehold to the site and held a management consultancy role and minor interest in the business. A spokeswoman for GRH said the group was still "weighing up its options". Davis Coffer Lyons is acting for GRH.
