New planning guide for tourism launched

A new guide designed to put the tourism industry's interests at the heart of planning decisions has been launched by the Government.

The new good-practice guide is designed to remove obstacles for investment, as well as helping local councils and operators work together to create high-quality, popular attractions.

It replaces the existing national planning guidance for tourism, PPG21.

Brigid Simmonds, chairman of the Tourism Alliance, said: "The Tourism Alliance very much welcomes this Good Practice Guide on Planning for Tourism. It is a clear acknowledgement of the huge importance of Tourism to the UK economy."
