Marriott tops business travellers' poll

International chain Marriott has been named the top hotel choice for business travellers.

A survey of more than 2,100 international travellers, by travel website TripAdvisor, revealed that 68% regularly stay at the same hotel chain when on business trips.

Marriott was named as their favourite hotel choice, with Hilton and Holiday Inn in second and third place respectively.

Marriott was commended by the respondents for introducing a number of innovations including Wi-Fi and high-speed internet access and continuing enhancements to its customer websites.

Jurgen Giesbert, executive vice-president for the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa at Marriott, said: "It is gratifying to note that these product innovations, coupled with our commitment to excellent service, continue to deliver exactly what the business traveller needs."

The survey also revealed that for business travellers the most important aspect of a hotel is location, with 32% saying proximity to meetings or the airport is vital to their stay. This was followed closely by the provision of a high-speed internet connection, which was deemed essential by 30% of travellers.

When asked about their favourite city for business trips, travellers chose New York as their most desired location, with Chicago and London in second and third places respectively.
