Marriott plans Moxy hotel for Manchester

Marriott has submitted plans to open a Moxy branded hotel in Spinningfields, Manchester.

Henry Boot Developments is working in with hotel management company Khanna Enterprises to open a 130-bedroom hotel on a site originally earmarked for office use.

The eight-storey building will form part of the Silk Works development, which is currently know as Invicta House.

Moxy was introduced to the UK last year at Aberdeen International Airport, having first been launched in Milan. Moxy currently has more than 1,000 rooms open in Europe, with more than 9,000 in the pipeline. The technology-led brand is set to head Marriott's expansion across Europe.

Khanna Enterprises director Anil Khanna said: "We are looking forward to bringing a new brand to Manchester, Moxy By Marriott, we believe will be an exciting addition to a vibrant expanding city and with it's fabulous location in Spinningfields will be the perfect location for the business and leisure traveller."

Dean Thompson, regional manager for Henry Boot Developments in the North West, added: "Silk Works is a very unique, beautiful building and in a great location, so it was an obvious choice for Manchester's first Moxy hotel. It will be a fantastic addition to the city's hospitality offering, introducing something genuinely different."
