Marriott opens first Residence Inn in Edinburgh
Marriott International has introduced its first Residence Inn - an extended-stay brand - into the UK, in the centre of Edinburgh.
The 107-bedroom Residence Inn Edinburgh has opened within the new Quartermile mixed-use development designed by Foster & Partners and is operated under a franchise agreement with Gladedale Ventures.
The hotel is aimed at travellers wanting to stay five days or more. Each of the studio and one-bedroom suites includes a fully equipped kitchen, as well as living, dining and working spaces.
Amenities include complimentary hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, grocery delivery service, and a 24-hour fitness centre.
The Edinburgh property is only the second Residence Inn in Europe, following the launch of the first one, in Munich, last month. There are more than 620 Residence Inns in the USA, Canada and South America.
Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe, said that with more than 35 years of expertise in extended-stay lodging, Residence Inn offered guests everything they needed, whether they were travelling for business or leisure. "As Marriott's third-largest lodging brand, we see tremendous potential for growth for this unique service and product in Europe."
Residence Inn is the fourth new Marriott brand to open in Europe this year, following the introduction of AC Hotels by Marriott, Autograph Collection and Edition hotels.
