Marianne Clavé named GM of Haymarket hotel
The Firmdale Group's new London hotel, the Haymarket, has recruited Marianne Clavé as general manager ahead of its April opening.
Clavé has been promoted from within the Firmdale ranks, having previously worked as general manager at the group's Pelham and Number 16 hotels, also in London. Before working for Firmdale she was at One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow.
Clavé becomes the sixth female general manager in the group, joining Carrie Wicks, Helle Jensen, Anna Jackson, Kate McWirter and Lisa Brooklyn, the new general manager at the Pelham hotel.
A spokesman for Firmdale said: "We don't specifically look for women, but they have been very successful GMs for Firmdale over many years. We always try to promote from within wherever we possibly can. It's only fair, and it's a good way of retaining staff."
The Haymarket, the seventh property in Tim and Kit Kemp's designer boutique hotel portfolio, was due to open in December, but has been delayed due to issues with the building.
The 55-bedroom and suite property will feature the Kemps' trademark bar and 100-seat restaurant, Brumus, serving northern Italian cuisine. In addition, the hotel will have an 18m basement swimming pool forming part of a private event space for 400 people, and a four-storey, full-service townhouse connected to the hotel but with its own private entrance on Sussex Street.
