Mandrake hotel to open next month with Serge et le Phoque restaurant

The Mandrake, an independent boutique hotel, is set to open in London Fitzrovia next month, including a restaurant from the team behind Hong Kong's Michelin-starred Serge et le Phoque.

The team behind Serge et le Phoque, French duo Charles Pelletier and Fred Peneau, will be opening their first London venture in the hotel, offering refined dining using modern French techniques. The 80-cover restaurant will also feature a 16-person private dining room.

Restaurateur Peneau is also behind Paris restaurants Café Burq, Le Chateaubriand, Le Dauphin and Grillé.

Inspired by the Mandrake plant, the 34-bedroom hotel is Beirut-born entrepreneur Rami Fustok's first hotel venture. It will combine vibrant interiors with works by artists including Francesco Clemente, Jonas Burgert and Peter-John de Villiers, soundscapes from French sound engineer Pierre-Arnaud Alunni, bespoke scents from Azzi Glasser and a 30-candle chandelier by Lara Bohinc.

The hotel rooms will be set across four floors, rising from a central courtyard surrounded by hanging jasmine and passion flowers.
