Malhotra Group spends £3m on Newcastle hotels refurb

Newcastle-based leisure company the Malhotra Group has invested £3m in refurbishing its two hotels, in a bid to enhance their appeal to business customers.

The New Northumbria Hotel in Jesmond, and the 49-bedroom Grey Street Hotel in the city centre, now feature function and conference rooms, with audio-visual facilities and Wi-Fi, allowing the properties to offer facilities for team-building events, interviews, networking days, and social events. Packages start at £25 per delegate per day.

The New Northumbria hotel is also set to refurbish its existing bedrooms, as well as build several more.

Owner of the restaurant Scalini's and the Three Mile Inn, Gosforth; the Sandpiper restaurant, Cullercoats; the Market Lane pub in Newcastle and the Runhead bar and grill at Ryton, the Malhotra Group rescued the Grey Street hotel from administration in June last year, having bought it for a reported £3.75m.
