Madeleine Calon becomes first female to be appointed to board of The Society of Golden Keys

Madeleine Calon, head concierge at the five-star, 60-bedroom St James's Hotel & Club, London, has become the first female to be appointed to the board of the Society of the Golden Keys of Great Britain and the Commonwealth as vice-president.

In her new role, Calon will be involved in steering the strategic development of the Society, which represents 360 concierges, as well as organising networking sessions and annual educational events.

Calon, who has been head concierge at St James's Hotel & Club since 2008, described her appointment as a great honour.

"The Society has continued to thrive for over 60 years, and its founding principles very much remain to this day. Concierges worldwide are working together to improve the quality of service for guests through hard work, commitment and loyalty."
