London Town Hotels has taken its first step outside the capital by buying the Comfort Hotel in Nottingham.

The independent hotel franchisee has snapped up the three-star, 70-room hotel in Nottingham city centre. London Town would not reveal the asking price.

The 17th century property is set to re-open its doors tomorrow under the management of London Town.

Managing director Koolesh Shah said: "We view this as an exciting development for London Town Hotels and anticipate growing demand for quality accommodation within the city."

London Town Hotels has six properties in the centre of the capital with a seventh, a boutique hotel, set to open in spring 2008. Further expansion is planned throughout the rest of the UK over the next year.
