Lakeside hotel in Staffordshire carries £1.6m price tag
A lakeside hotel in Staffordshire with potential for significant expansion has been put on the market through the Birmingham office of Christie & Co.
The three-star Hotel Rudyard, which has been run by the same family for the past 20 years, is a detached building set in five acres of land by the hamlet of Rudyard.
It attracts business from the surrounding areas, including the nearby village of Leek, Stone, Stoke, Birmingham and Manchester. The hotel is just 15 miles from the Alton Towers theme park.
Along with 15 en-suite bedrooms, the hotel offers a ballroom, a residents' lounge, a bar and a 120-seat carvery restaurant.
The grounds include formal gardens, equestrian facilities and owners' accommodation in the form of a detached cottage with four bedrooms (two of them en-suite), a kitchen, sitting room and office area.
"The hotel has reached a stage where an incoming purchaser could improve the trade and potentially develop a number of elements of the business, including the possibility of reapplying for the recently-expired planning consent, which is believed to include an indoor swimming pool, a small leisure area and a further 12 en-suite bedrooms," said Martin Davis of Christie + Co.
Christie + Co is seeking offers in the region of £1.6m for the hotel freehold.
