Joost Bijster appointed head chef of Kaspar's at the Savoy

Joost Bijster has been appointed head chef of the Savoy hotel's art deco seafood restaurant, Kaspar's.

Dutch native Bijster joins the five-red-AA-star London hotel's AA-rosette restaurant from Restaurant Park Society in Bangkok, Thailand, where he worked as chef de cuisine for the last three years.

He also worked as sous chef at the two-Michelin-starred Restaurant de Zwethheul in the Netherlands, executive sous chef at the Manhattan hotel in Rotterdam and sous chef at Restaurant Pure Passie in ‘S Gravenzande, before moving to Bangkok in 2014 to work as chef de cuisine at the Michelin-starred Restaurant Savelberg.

Bijster said: "The Savoy is so famous, and I would have never dreamed of joining the team. It's a landmark in London, and the history dates back so far. It has welcomed people like Monet, Ritz and Escoffier. They are legends, and I'm thrilled about this new challenge and chapter."
