Jeff Hodgson joins Carlisle's Hallmark hotel as GM

The four-AA-star, 70-bedroom Hallmark hotel in Carlisle, Cumbria, has appointed Jeff Hodgson as general manager.

Hodgson, who replaces Gearoid Pyne, joins the hotel from the George hotel , near Darlington, and Chapters hotel, Middlesbrough, both owned by Shepherd Cox and managed by Michels & Taylor.

In his new role he will be responsible for managing a team of 50 at the Victorian-built hotel, which is part of the 28-strong Hallmark portfolio owned by private investment company Topland Group.

Hodgson said he was "thrilled" to join the property and had already embarked on a programme of redecoration at the hotel following guest feedback.

"We also have a number of exciting activities planned to engage with the local community, as well as big plans for Christmas 2017."
