Investigation continues after woman attacked at Hilton Manchester Deansgate

Armed police responded to an incident at the Hilton Hotel in Deansgate, Manchester, after a woman was attacked and left with "lacerations to her neck".

Four men, aged 26, 26, 24 and 20, were taken into police custody on suspicion of attempted murder along with 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl.

The 20-year-old man remains in custody, while the others have been released as the investigation continues.

Roughly 15 police vehicles are reported to have attended the scene. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they did not believe the incident was terror related or a random attack.

Police were witnessed investigating one of the hotel rooms following the incident.

A spokesperson for Hilton Manchester Deansgate confirmed a "serious incident took place at the hotel".

They added "The matter is now in the hands of the Greater Manchester Police and we are co-operating fully as they conduct their investigation."

The woman, who called for help from passing officers, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

In a statement a spokesman for GMP said: "Armed police are currently at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate after a woman was attacked inside the hotel.

"Shortly after 11.10am on Monday 23 July 2018 police officers on Deansgate were flagged down by a woman with serious injuries to her neck.

"The woman is being treated for lacerations to her neck.

"Three men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Enquiries are ongoing.

"Scenes are now in place in one of the hotel rooms and outside the hotel itself."
