InterContinental's financial director tops best CFO in Europe list
InterContinental Hotels Group's (IHG) financial director, Richard Solomons, has been named among the top chief financial officers (CFO) in Europe by city trading bible, Institutional Investor magazine.
Solomons, 44, joined IHG in 1992. He was named the leading CFO in the European leisure and hotel sector following a survey of more than 1,500 analysts, portfolio managers and brokerage firms.
Institutional Investor said the leading CFOs were judged not only their ability to deliver timely and accurate quarterly results, but on their use of greater financial transparency to boost efficiency and help their companies make strategic decisions.
In response, Solomons said: "IHG has been on a transformational journey over the past three years and during that time we have worked hard to deliver on our strategy.
"We have a clear plan focusing on organic growth as we aim to add 50,000 to 60,000 rooms to our portfolio on an net and organic basis by the end of 2008. I look forward to working with the team to deliver on this."
