IHG signs 18 new hotels in Europe
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) signed deals adding 18 new properties to its European portfolio this summer, including new UK Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn sites.
The new hotels bring 2,375 additional rooms to its room-stock in the region, with Hotel Indigo Newcastle, which will be managed by Sanguine Hospitality, set to open in the summer of 2012.
BDL Management's Staybridge Suites Edinburgh will open its doors this autumn and Holiday Inns will also spring up on London's Commercial Road (2012), and in Newcastle's Jesmond Dene (2010) and Darlington, County Durham (next year).
Manchester's MEN Arena will get its own Holiday Inn Express next year, and sites in Nuneaton, Warwickshire (this autumn) and Birmingham (2011) are also due.
Kirk Kinsell, IHG's president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "These new signings demonstrate the confidence developers have in our brands and the strength of our marketing programmes."
The remaining hotel deals have been signed in Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Russia and Turkey, across a range of IHG brands.
