InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has launched a $10m (£5.6m) staff training scheme to enhance its customer service.

IHG announced a new training programme for its 40,000 employees at the 2005 Americas Leadership and Investment Conference in Las Vegas last week.

Jennifer Zeigler, the senior vice-president of global brand management for InterContinental, said the training programme, currently piloting in Atlanta, Bangkok, Beirut, Caracas and Madrid, will be rolled out next May. It will include specific concierge training schemes to establish a new culture of inspirational and emotional benefits.
