Hyatt reveals plans for first hotel in Scotland

Hyatt has announced plans for its first hotel in Scotland and its third Regency hotel in the UK as part of Edinburgh's new Marina development.

Hyatt Regency Edinburgh Marina will include 197 guestrooms and 98 apartments as well as a spa. Set to open in 2021, the hotel will be the third Hyatt Regency in the UK, joining properties in London and Birmingham.

The hotel will also include a 10,000 sq ft conference and banqueting centre, as well as a restaurant and bar.

Guido Fredrich, Hyatt's regional vice president development Europe, said: "Edinburgh Marina is the perfect foundation for us to launch our brand in Scotland, opening a new era for Hyatt and creating a great new tourism opportunity for Edinburgh."

Hugh Taylor of Michels & Taylor, the hotel asset management company which advised the developer, added: "This is great news for the city of Edinburgh and a huge boost to its tourism industry. Hyatt is a highly regarded international hotelier and is a perfect fit for this upscale waterfront development."

Regency is Hyatt's premium brand, one of 13 brands the group has in its portfolio. Hyatt's UK portfolio also includes the Andaz London Liverpool Street, Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport, and Hyatt Place West London/Hayes, with two more hotels under development: the Great Scotland Yard hotel and Hyatt Place London City/East.
