Hotels raise money for homeless charity SleepSmart

Hotels across the UK are currently raising funds for the homeless charity SleepSmart by adding a £1 voluntary contribution to room rates.

London hotels such as Brown's, the Stafford, the Landmark, the Arch and the Zetter, are taking part in the scheme during November and December, alongside properties outside the capital, including Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire.

SleepSmart is the sister charity to StreetSmart, which raises money for the homeless through restaurants. Together, the two charities have raised more than £6.3m for the homeless to date.

Campaign sponsor Deutsche Bank covers all SleepSmart's administration costs, ensuring that every donation goes directly to those who need it.

Greg Hegarty, UK regional general manager of Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, a supporter of the charity, said: "It's nice to know that 100% of the £1 donation goes towards changing and helping someone in great need."
