Hotel Marketing Association selects Ed Purnell as new chairman

The Hotel Marketing Association (HMA) has elected Ed Purnell as its new chairman. He succeeds Linda Moore who remains on the HMA committee after a two-year term as chairman.

Purnell, former vice-chairman of the HMA, has in senior marketing roles at InterContinental Hotels Group, Le Méridien, Small Luxury Hotels and Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts.

He said: "Moving forwards, we shall be evolving the HMA's annual schedule of events and networking opportunities to ensure that members and attendees gain access to the knowledge, techniques and strategies appropriate for today's hospitality marketers."

Katarina Nielson of Flock Associates and Steve Lowy of Umi Digital have been elected as new members of the committee, while the following members have been re-elected for the following year: David Bailey, CBRE Hotels; David Bowie, Oxford Brookes University; Caroline Calvert, Red Carnation Hotels; Pamela Carvell, Pampas Marketing; Bernice Chan, Choice Hotels Europe; Martin Evans, the Tourism Business; Kay George, Hilton Worldwide; Sunita Lamba, Radisson Blu Edwardian; Carole Luck, marketing consultant; Andrea McKay, the Hotel Collection; and Linda Moore, Moore Communications.

The HMA is the hotel industry group of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
