Hotel Football delayed until March 2015
The opening of Hotel Football, the new venture backed by Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville opposite Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium, has been delayed for three months.
Originally due to open on 8 December, the 133-bedroom hotel is now set to launch on 2 March 2015.
The hotel is owned and operated by GG Hospitality, which is headed by Giggs and Neville alongside managing director Stuart Procter.
A spokesperson for GG Hospitality said the delay will allow more time to develop "unique features" beyond original plans.
"We will be enhancing the conference and banqueting facilities and will also be extending our rooftop five-a-side football pitch and event space by over 50%. We want to ensure the supporters and hotel guests have an unforgettable experience when they visit us and this additional preparation time will ensure this."
Hotel Football will follow on from the launch in December 2013 of GG Hospitality's first venture, Café Football, in Westfield Stratford, London.
It will feature Café Football Manchester, which will serve dishes that have proved popular at its London counterpart, including the Boss Burger and Café Football Sausage Roll, as well as be home to the Old Trafford Supporters Club.
Giggs and Neville are being supported in the hotel by fellow members of the Class of '92, Philip Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.
