Hilton exec launches new market globalisation group

Hilton International's new chief executive Ian Carter announced the creation of a new group to manage increasing market globalisation.

The new Commercial Operations Group takes over responsibility for sales, marketing, e-commerce, distribution and IT functions at the company.

In a strategic management reshuffle Jurgen Fischer, president of Europe and Africa, will head up the new group. Wolfgang Neumann, president of UK and Ireland, will assume responsibility for Europe and Africa in addition to his existing role.

Carter said: "It is essential that our own structure and priorities adapt to deliver this new reality [of global organisation]. It is clear that cost efficiencies and better co-ordination will be achieved through a global approach to brand and distribution management."
