Grand Sopot Hotel to re-open
Sofitel has announced the re-opening of its Grand Sopot Hotel in Poland, after extensive refurbishment. The historic building, built in 1927, has been redesigned and fitted with hi-tech amenities and leisure facilities to bring it up to five-star standard. Opening rates of €95 (£64) for a deluxe queen room will showcase the new design, created by architect Frederic Yzermann. The Grand Sopot Hotel will become part of Sofitel's 200-strong worldwide network.

IHG announces new hotel in LA
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced its new InterContinental Los Angeles Century City hotel. The 363-room hotel is owned by Tokyo-based Sumitomo Reality and Development and joins IHG's list of newly announced properties in San Francisco, Orlando and Sacramento. The group has also announced that owners of IHG properties throughout Latin America and the Caribbean have invested $95m (£49m) in wide-scale renovations, due to be completed by the end of 2007. Twenty-two properties will be upgraded, including Holiday Inn Express Puerto Madero, InterContinental Sao Paulo and InterContinental Santiago.

Hilton signs up for Costa Rica
Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) has signed a multi-year management agreement with the Caribbean Real Estate Opportunity Fund for two resorts in Costa Rica. HHC will renovate and manage a 202-room property in Guanacaste and a 410-room property in Puntarenas, offering scenic views and sports facilities.

Hilton adds Kuwait and Warsaw hotel to portfolio
HHC has also announced the new Hilton Olympia Kuwait and Warsaw Hotel and Convention Centre. Due to open in 2008, the Hilton Olympia hotel will add to the group's portfolio of 14 properties in the Arabian Peninsula. The twin-tower project will house offices and the hotel, joined by an enclosed walkway. The company's 29-storey Hilton Warsaw Hotel and Convention Centre, due to open in Poland in March, will provide the city's largest and most modern conference facilities. All 314 guestrooms have LCD screens and Conference Manager software.
