Global Hyatt recruits ex-Marriott man to head up property

Global Hyatt Corporation has recruited ex-Marriott man Stephen Haggerty as executive vice-president of real estate and development.

In his new role Haggerty will be responsible for the hotel company's global development efforts through both acquisitions and management contracts.

He was senior vice-president of international project finance and asset management at Hyatt rival Marriott before, based in London.

Hyatt chief executive Mark Hoplamazian said: "Steve joins the Global Hyatt team at a very exciting time. Over the past several years, we have achieved significant growth through the successful repositioning of Key Hyatt-owned assets as part of a major investment strategy."

Haggerty will relocate with his family to Chicago for the role.
