Global Hyatt announce new president

Global Hyatt Corporation has officially named Mark Hoplamazian as its new president and chief executive.

Hoplamazian, 43, had been interim president of Hyatt since July this year and was formerly president of the Pritzker Organisation, where he managed the company's merchant banking and investment business.

Hoplamazian said that the past six months had given him the chance to learn about the company.

He added: "What I see is a solid company with passionate employees that is well poised for growth."

Thomas Pritzker, chairman of Global Hyatt, said: "Mark has been involved as an advisor in Global Hyatt's business activities for many years. I have great confidence in his skills and believe he will bring a fresh perspective to Hyatt."

Hyatt has 217 branded hotels and resorts in 43 countries worldwide operating under the Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt brands.
