Focus Hotels takes over management of Tewkesbury Park

Hotel management company Focus Hotels has taken over the operation of the Tewkesbury Park hotel, golf and country club in Gloucestershire.

The company will now oversee a major investment and refurbishment of the 82-bedroom hotel by its new owner, the McIntosh family. The property was previously owned by Washington Hotels and operated by Licensed Solutions, following the administration of previous operators, Delight Hotels.

Peter Cashman, chief executive of Focus Hotels, said he believes the hotel has the potential to become "a fantastic landmark" for the area.

"We are already in discussions with the McIntosh family regarding their investment plans, and look forward to helping them realise their vision for the hotel".

Future plans include bringing the bedrooms in the original English Heritage-listed main house back into use.

Set in 176 acres of grounds, the hotel is situated on the historic site of the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury and commands panoramic views of Tewkesbury Abbey and the Cotswold and Malvern Hills.

Founded in 2007 by Cashman and fellow board director, Alun Edwards, Focus Hotels currently manages 17 three- and four-star properties in the UK, both independent and under brands including Mercure, Ibis Styles and Doubletree by Hilton.
