Fisher's hotel in Pitlochry undergoing £2m refurb following New Year's Day fire

Fisher's hotel in Pitlochry, Perthshire is undergoing a £2m renovation following a fire on New Year's Day.

The hotel had to be evacuated and closed for a week, with 23 rooms requiring a complete refurbishment.

The hotel, which dates back to 1830 and is owned by the Castle Collection, will see the refurbishment and creation of 30 new rooms to make a total of 140, including the creation of new special occasion rooms.

The hotel has been undergoing renovation since January with many of the original features including period fireplaces being re-instated. A new 150-cover restaurant will also be unveiled, the Castle restaurant, which will include an indoor ‘zen garden' with a glass roof spanning all floors of the hotel.

Due to be complete by the end of the year, the hotel remains open for guests while renovations continue.

Brian Wishart, general manager of Fisher's Hotel, said; "Fisher's hotel has a strong reputation for being one of Pitlochry's best hotels among tourists to Perthshire and this investment will allow us to enhance the fantastic experience we already offer to visitors. The fire was a real catalyst in bringing the refurb project into fruition and our guests have been incredibly supportive of our efforts in ensuring the future of this iconic building.

The Castle Collection also encompasses two hotels in Ireland and two other hotels in the UK: the Atholl Palace hotel, also in Pitlochry, and the Beaches hotel in Prestatyn, North Wales.
